AVID Sociology is a collaboration between sociologists Sarah Pollock and Jen McGovern.
Sarah earned her PhD from Temple University in 2015 and is currently a full time instructor at UNC-Charlotte. She specializes in
gender, sexuality, and the body. Getting students involved in the
learning process and excited about the material is a top priority, so she is
constantly looking for ways to engage her class!
Jen earned her PhD from Temple University in 2013 and is an assistant professor at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ. She specializes in the sociology of sport and is interested in the ways that sport both reinforces social stratification and breaks down social barriers. She is also a big methods geek and loves to use data, as well as current events and popular culture, to introduce students to important sociological questions and issues.
