This video depicts a young (heterosexual) girl, Ashley, and her
family as they try to navigate a social world that is homonormative. Intended to challenge heterosexism and
heteronormativity, the video captures peer and parental socialization and the policing of sexuality and gender. [Trigger warning: The story is deeply troubling as the girl is bullied at school and
sanctioned by her parents, ultimately committing suicide.]
